No furniture when moving into an apartment?

When I move my sim into a furnished apartment, the only items that are
visible are the batchroom and kitchen items, don't know specifically
what items, counters, toilets, showers. Even tho the price is high on
rent for items I can't see, but when the NPC neighbor moves in, all
items are visible when I visit their apartment.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. You furnish the lots so the NPCs
have furniture when you go to visit them but your sim has to furnish the
apartment itself.
