Batch Intstalling Sims2Pack Files
(too old to reply)

Hello,

I have a LARGE amount (322) of Sims2Pack files in my Sims 2 Download folder.
I know that you have to double click on them to install them to Sims 2, but
is there any software that
batch installs ALL Sims2Pack files within a folder automatically?

I can't face the idea of doing them one at a time. That would take me all
day!

Thanks.

You want the multi sims2pack installer available here...

But be careful, just clicking the files can leave you with very odd looking
and unhelpful file names, and this isn't much better. It's normally better
to use Clean Installer, but that is one at a time too. So sort out the
packages into sub folders that help you track things down - by object or
hair or walls etc or by the modder who made them - and then do one folder at
a time, then the file names don't matter so much.

Clean Installer is supposed to do multiple files though I can't say I've
ever tried.

Best wishes

It is? I thought I tried once and it only opened one. Maybe I did it
wrong.

I'd heard that it was meant to do multiples too - but I never figured out
how either.

I don't know how it does multiples but what I do is select up to about 20
files and they all open at once. If you do more than that, your computer is
likely to explode from lack of memory to handle it all. Then I just press
the Enter key in quick succession. The selected options that you hit Enter
for seem to be automatically set to let you instal.

So it's 1) select up to about 20 files 2) hit enter and they all open -
don't worry if things slow down, unless you have very little RAM, the PC
should cope with it 3) enter enter enter enter, etc until you're through the
lot. Make sure to slow down at the end as your files will remain selected so
if you hit enter one time too many you end up opening them all again and
having to cancel out manually by clicking on Cancel 20 times. 4) rinse and
repeat for next 20 files. Easy peasy. Allows you to install around 20 files
in a couple of minutes.

Cheers!

I think that was what I tried to do - and not as many as 20 either - but it
only opened one file that time. I never bothered again. You don't get
that many sims2pack files these days other than lots which I always want to
check individually, and walls/floors seem to come that way. Those I do as I
described with the multi installer, but it's never as many as 20 at a time.

Maid works fine for me. Not sure what you mean by no control over
location. The problem I have is that the Package Installer (used for
installing .sims2pack files) is soooooo freaking slow.
What I mean is it just dumps everything in Downloads and doesn't give you an
option to sort stuff. Leaves a mess in the Downloads folder. I always use
Clean Installer. It's very good. Besides File Maid has not been updated
since the game was released and is reportedly not working properly with AL.

Best wishes
